Going
Ashore
On a clear night, when requested, we
set up a BBQ dinner under the stars on a pristine white beach of a
deserted rock island. We can also hike onto the big island of Babeldaob
to see and bathe in its famous waterfalls. When weather permits, we
sail down south to the island of Peleliu and spend the night in the
deserted, shallow harbor. Peleliu was heavily fortified by the Japanese
during WWII and was the site of an excruciatingly long and bloody
battle, with many relics still scattered around the island in caves and
jungle and along the legendary bloody-nose ridge. A land expedition and
local guided tour upon Peleliu, for 2 - 4 hours, can be arranged ahead
of time for an extra $20, in addition to the $20 Peleliu State Permit
for visiting. You may request that Ocean Hunter go all the way south to
Anguar, which requires a State Permit costing $60.
