Dive Experience
Since we cater to small groups, we are very flexible in accommodating
divers of all skill levels, from beginner to professional.
Having 2-3 dive guides/instructors for a group of 16 divers allow us to
pay close attention to novice divers and follow their safety.
Water Temperature
The average water temperature is a warm 28 degrees Celsius, 84 degrees
Fahrenheit.
For protection in the water we recommend a
3mm wetsuit (full length or short) or Lycra. If you are sensitive to
cold please feel free to bring heavier dive suits.
Gear to
Bring
Don't forget your mask, fins, snorkel, wetsuit, regulator with pressure
gauge, BCD, dive computer/depth gauge/dive watch, dive gloves, optional
dive knife, safety sausage (required) and reef hook. What
is a Reef Hook? Reefhooks and safety sausages are available
in our shop. You'll have ample storage space for your gear. If you need
to rent gear, you can do so upon arrival at our shop. Show me a list of rental gear and
prices.
Equipment Provided Onboard
We provide weight belts, weights, and standard aluminum size 80 cubic
foot tanks. Both 63 and 100 cubic foot tanks are also
available upon request. Ocean Hunter III provides clean
towels
both for shower and deck. You get your own personal
color-coded towel, warm and dry, after each dive.
Onboard we have a marine VHF radio and a cell phone that Ocean Hunter
III crew uses to keep in touch with the office in town three times a
day. Family members or friends can reach guests onboard by calling the
ship’s cell phone at 680-777-2290, or they can leave a message at the
Ocean Hunter office, 680- 488-2637. Guests may use the ship
cell phone or satellite phone, though “at-cost” charges
apply. Cellular phones are available for rental with prepaid
cards.
Electricity
Two on board generators supply 24-hour 110 and 220 volt service, with
standard American and European outlets for two/three prong plugs. There
are at least 4 outlets in each cabin. Electrical outlets are
clearly marked as either 110V or 220V throughout the boat, so there’s
no danger of plugging into the wrong voltage
Entertainment
The Salon features a 32” multi system TV, Multi regional DVD player,
Multi system VCR, CD stereo and VCD player. We have a
wonderful collection of VHS tapes, DVDs, CDs and VCDs. We invite you to
bring your own as well! We also have an extensive marine
library as well as books about Palau and its culture available on board
for you to browse.
Tipping
Tipping is a personal matter, but for guests who have requested
guidance on the subject: the Ocean Hunter II is a U.S. standard
liveaboard, with crew's salaries based on tipping (upon your
satisfaction). The average tip generally runs 7.5% - 10% of the trip
cost.

you feel you will need them.
